There is some great stuff out there. There’s a lot of really inspirational stuff around. I like to quote myself, “If you can’t make it rain, it won’t be the rain.
For example, I like to quote myself to people, “I’m very ambitious,” which I then tell them to do. “If you cant make it rain, it wont be the rain,” as if I was in a hurry to get them to do something. So that’s one of the quotes that I use a lot. Unfortunately, I have no idea if that’s what I really mean when I say it. I’ve actually never said it, but I guess I probably should.
If theres a point to be emphasized, it’s that if you’re really ambitious, you won’t just sit on your butt and wait for rain, you’ll actually do something about it. And something about that makes me want to put my fist through my forehead.
That’s the part that I always find funny. I was trying to give a quote, and I thought it was pretty clear that I was speaking metaphorically. The next person on my list to use that one got it, but I just figured that was an unfortunate typo.

For those of you that don’t know, I recently came across this short article for Urban Dictionary by a guy who’s been working at Facebook about a bunch of things with him. It’s the kind of thing that will open a door for everyone to read about the company he’s working for. I have to say that it’s very interesting and enlightening.
I think its also a good reminder to every developer, architect, writer, etc. that it’s their job to talk about their work. And if they’re talking about their work, they should talk about it with the right audience.
We’ve all seen pictures in the news of successful people being photographed wearing suits and ties, or reading business-related books on their lunch breaks. But there are other ways to connect with your audience. Some people use business cards. Others write fan letters. Others even write personal blog posts. All of these methods are effective, but the thing to remember is that it takes a lot to make people click on your website.
Some people also use social networking sites. But they’re the wrong way to interact with your audience. You can easily build up your audience organically by posting interesting content to your website. The audience’s interaction with this content is what makes it stand out and, hopefully, get them to interact with your website in other ways.
